Publication: Scalable generation of functional human iPSC-derived CAR-macrophages that efficiently eradicate CD19-positive leukemia

In this study, CERO bioreactor was used for continuous upscaled production of CAR-iMacs. The formation of the hemanoids was highlighted, which were continuously shedding the CAR-iMacs. Quantities of CAR-iMacs were harvested from the supernatants at different weeks from the ongoing bioreactor differentiation using CERO. The paper provides results from generating CAR-macrophages from various stem cell sources using modern upscaling technologies for next-generation immune cell farming. The generated cells exhibited increased functionality in the form of enhanced and antigen-dependent phagocytosis of CD19+ target cancer cells along with increased pro-inflammatory responses.
