Publication: An epilepsy-associated mutation in the nuclear import receptor KPNA7 reduces nuclear localization signal binding

This study aimed to understand more about KPNA7 nuclear import receptor and its link to epilepsy. HeLa cells were transfected with ViaFect reagent before being seeded on a CellRaft Array. GFP-positive clonal CellRafts were identified and isolated using the AIR System. The cell lines generated using the CellRaft Array and AIR System were used for permeabilized cell import assays to show nuclear accumulation of GST-GFP-SV40 NLS. The data generated in this study supported a role for altered neuronal expression and activity of KPNA7 in a rare type of pediatric epilepsy.
